The Many Faces Tara and I Make Playing LEGO Batman

014-LEGOBatman

Despite its many flaws, I love the LEGO videogames. My parents got me LEGO Batman for my birthday (gee, that sentence reads like something a seven-year-old might type; oh well), and a gaming session with it pretty much turns out like the above. It’s all fun and games until things get frustrating as all gets. I don’t even know how kids play this game and get anywhere. Co-op is enjoyable…if you don’t mind dying a lot or getting snappy with your partner in crime. Because you will snap. Oh, you will.

Yet, even with the bad camera angles, glitches, horribly done automobile levels, and forestalling puzzles, one can’t stop playing. There’s too many studs to collect and not enough time. I want to buy–and collect–everything there is, and that’s the part that hooks me every single time. As of this post, I’ve completed somewhere about 45% of the game. What am I doing wasting my time here then? The Batsignal shines above!

Each time it’s different

Actually, as of today’s real day of posting (12/15/08), I have a total of $32.00 saved now. Yes, trying to save money during the holiday season is just as easy as floating a hippopotamus down a river in a badly inflated tube. But what do you keep your loose change in? A real piggy bank?

Oh, and look. Today, y’all get a bonus MyLifeComic:

The funny thing is I don’t even like football. But by the power of the Lords of Kobol, my children will have beards.

Calm me with your lies, your simple tragedy
It’s all I wish to hear tonight
and you’re all I wish to be
And this is how we all fall

Dreaming of an Xbox 360 and More

2008-11-14

EDIT: Oops. That second panel should read “I feel like if I don’t, I’ll do something rash…like buy an Xbox 360.”

Games that are specifically calling to me for the Xbox 360 are Fable 2 (you get a dog!), Oblivion (you get swords and magic spells!), and Fallout 3 (you get to be evil or good or somewhere in the middle/you get a dog!). These are the sort of games that really allow a player to…roleplay. Which is right up my alley. I love the idea of open-world games, and I’ve yet to really play one other than the early PS2 Grand Theft Auto games. Those were okay, but as you know Bob I’m a fantasy junkie. Not a car fiend. So in the mean time I’m trying to beat some ignored games from my collection and save up some cash.

But oh, if when I do get an Xbox 360, I promise y’all the first thing we will do is frolic in a field.
