Who watches the Watchmen?

Sorry, couldn’t help myself on that one. Anyways, despite this being the 12/20/08 comic, I’m really posting it on 02/08/09 (yes, I know, it’s stupidly confusing), which means I’m back from New York Comic Con. And it. Was. Awesome! How awesome, Paul, you ask? Well, I went there with three hopes: (1) Meet Bryan Lee O’Malley and pick up the new Scott Pilgrim book; (2) Meet Aaron Douglas, a.k.a. Chief Galen Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica; and (3) buy a new Munchkin set.

Of those, the first two were successfully met, and that more or less means it was an awesome con. Definitely wanna hit it up again in October 2010. Below are three photos for y’all to enjoy (thanks, Mon!):

#337 – NY Comic Con 2008, Part 3

with 15 comments

Ahhh…yeah. There’s no “To be continued!” in the last panel, but there just might be one more Comic Con comic on Monday. I know you’re all loving them. Well, not Bitsy. She hasn’t stopped by here since I started posting them. Hmphh.

Anyways, the weekend approaches. Unlike the last one, which you’ve all been reading about the past three days, this one will be a bit more subdued. Some sleeping, some going to the park, some relaxing. Nothing major or life-stopping. But I know you people out there are doing stuff! You’re always doing stuff! So tell me what stuff is being done…by you! Go on!

Back with the streets I know
They never take me anywhere but here
Those stains in the carpet, this drink in my hand
these strangers whose faces I know

#336 – NY Comic Con 2008, Part 2

with 9 comments

Oh, look! Another comic about Comic Con! And we’re not even done yet. Stay tuned for tomorrow to see how my “leaving” went…

So, back in college, after a lovely night at a Blood Brothers concert, my friend Jaime “Hot Cakes” Schuh and I decided we needed to form a band. What kind of band, you ask? Why, a poppy techno screamo group called The Bubblegum Kisses. She wrote the lyrics, I made the music and screamed into a microphone. We had a MySpace page, but it somehow got deleted. Thankfully, she’s found all the songs again and has posted them for all to see. Personally, I think she’s trying to convince me to, as they say, get the band back together. Maybe maybe! So, if you want to know what it is like to be me and be bored and have recording equipment at your disposal, well, here you go:

The Bubblegum Kisses E.P.
1. Cake
2. Breast Milk
3. Hatchet Tooth

Remember, we were bored. Mighty, mighty bored. But “Cake” still makes me laugh…

#335 – NY Comic Con 2008, Part 1

I have nothing to say here that isn’t said in the above comic. More to come, too…

I have, however, created a Flickr account and stolen photos from everyone else and put them up there for y’all to enjoy as if I myself am some sort of photographer extraordinare. I am not. The six photos I actually took are laughable at best. Go here to see ’em! The good photos, people, not the ones I actually snapped.

#328 – Reader Responses

So, I was looking at my scanned in line art for this week’s comics and I thought, “Hmm, if I color all of these it’ll take me all night long. If I just do black and white I can be done in 15 minutes and then spend the rest of the night farting around on the Interweb.”

Guess which option I picked.

Monday brought me some nice mail, which I conveniently placed on top of the not-so-nice mail:

I got my contributor copies for Kaleidotrope #4, which is publishing my short story “She’s a Hearth,” as well as a freebie from High Maintenance Machine since I entered his contest. Now to find a place to put that sticker…

***ATTENTION*** ***ATTENTION***
I really really really really want to go to the New York Comic Con this Saturday, April 19th. Someone please go with me so I don’t have to take the ferry or train into the city by myself. If I end up doing that, I will most assuredly get mugged, shot, and then die all alone in a heap of trash. In that order. So please, you know you want to geek out with moi.
