Being Sick Sucks
Well, that’s how I feel about the situation, but here’s a poll for y’all to fill out so I can get a better insight into these sorts of things:
Every day’s an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
The movies and the factories
And every stranger’s face I see
Reminds me that I long to be

Chewy Gets Suddenly and Terribly Sick
Poor, little fella. The good news is he’s doing all right now. The bad news was he had [name of sickness thing that hopefully Tara will know because I’m currently drawing a blank], which, despite myself never having experienced, is not a fun time. Lots of vomiting, lots of unpleasantness, lots of sad puppy eyes. He had to stay at the animal hospital for two nights, but it was for the better as he got the right care and attention. He just needs to watch what he eats…an objective not easily achieved as Chewy will eat just about anything within a lick’s length.
Sleep, she comes to steal the ones who
Fill their glass and leave the rest
Whose teeth get brushed, who eat enough
And who know how to treat their friends

I’m a Real Romantic, You See
Well…did she?
Place your bets.
Twenty-five, all of these mixed emotions
Tangled up in pure confusion
It’s hard to let go of the past, but it seems
Easier as time is moving
Well, you said he makes you laugh
And he makes you happy
He sees you smiling back
It is everlasting

Applebee’s Makes Tara Sick For Days, Woo-hoo
I told Tara that from now on I’m only going to take her to the finest of eateries, such as Wendy’s and the Dollar Tree for multiple packs of chicken-flavored Ramen noodles, since she keeps getting sick at any place a notch higher than those. Actually, she’s never gotten sick from Panera Bread. So, y’know, that’s a relief. Cause I don’t know what I’d do without that place. The soup and bread is just too good. For those playing along at home, we’ve already lost Chili’s earlier this year…and now this. Rest in peace, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar.
We blame the Strawberry Limeade. Eat at your own risk…
And all the gold dust in her eyes won’t reform into a ring
You had and lost the one thing
You kept in a safe place
Remember the face
Of the girl who had made you her own
And how you left her alone

Being Sick Leads to Acronym Fun
Got any favorite acronyms? I’ve always enjoyed ASAP, just because it can be fun to say. Also, WTF and FUBAR, while not always people-friendly, get an approving nod from me. Still, if SOUP were an actual acronym for helping the ill get better, mine would be: Sandwich…Obduracy…Unicorn Magic…and Playstation 2.

Woah! Check out that Schindler’s List usage of color! Hmm. I wonder what it symbolizes? Sacrifice? Despair? Directions? Aqua?
Wow, it’s Friday already. Know what that means, kiddos? Vacation officially begins one week from today. To say I’m beyond excited is…well, it tis what it tis. For now, the weekend consists of two things I absolutely hate doing: getting a haircut and buying a bathsuit. FUN FACT: I have not bought a bathing suit in at least…five years. Gah. I hope y’all are doing something more enjoyable than that. Hmm? Hmm?
Question of the day: Why on Earth do men think they look good in speedos?
Haven’t you heard it’s a battle of words
The poster bearer cried
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There’s room for you inside
“Us and Them” by Pink Floyd
#368 – Grandmother Passes Away
Looking at the remainder of comics for the week, seeing the subjects they touch upon, I really don’t see myself writing much down here. I’ll let the art speak for itself, at least for the time being.
Oh, why do they leave?
Oh, why do they leave?
On the day that you needed them the most
Simple cards and things
Rose-colored sunsets, no flowers for me
– “Why Do They Leave?” by Ryan Adams
#304 – Projectile Vomit
I don’t know if many of you can tell, but the artwork above should look quite different from all previous comics. Why is that? Well, for one I learned the proper way to scan in line art. See, I was just scanning it in at 72 dpi, not really caring much or thinking it mattered. This time, however, I put the artwork in at 300 dpi, colored it at that size, and then re-sized the whole thing for the Web. I dunno. The lines and colors seem to be sharper. Eh, maybe this is just stuff I notice…
I was flipping the channels last night momentarily before I started to write, and a show caught my attention. Not in a good way. It’s a game show, where kids compete with their fathers to prove to each other who has the best pappy around. I don’t know. This seems…wrong. Are television viewers this desperate for tears and entertainment? I couldn’t keep it on for very long. Already I found it to be overtly dramatic and pointless.
You know what show used to kick butt? That really put kids up to challenges that, even if they didn’t win, wouldn’t slap a boulder-sized backpack of emotional scarring on them now that their father hated them for losing embarrassingly on national television? That’d be: What Would You Do?
Dang, early 1990s TV ruled.

My mother taught me well.
In sad news, one of my favorite authors, Terry Pratchett, recently announced that he has been diagnosed with a rare form of early onset Alzheimer’s. That sucks. Still, in true Pratchett form, the man is handling the news with an upbeat stride, hoping for the best and mentioning that he’s still got a few books in him yet. It truly is amazing how brilliant this man is, even now when the world is less than kind to him. I’m keeping him in my thoughts and will continue to buy every Discworld novel that comes out as if nothing has changed.
#181 – Being Sick
I watched the OLD Saved by the Bell episodes, too. You know, the ones with Miss Bliss and that girl Nicky or whatever. Way back when! Don’t focus too hard on my crappy ability to do caricatures, all right. I yam what I yam. By the way, it’s supposed to be Zach and Screech up there.
What’s a favorite television show that is still being syndicated nowadays and that you enjoy watching? I still really like Step by Step, Boy Meets World, and Home Improvement. Huh. Go figure.
Oh, and for those worried that I might’ve been ignoring you yesterday–I wasn’t. WordPress was being mega annoying, sending all my comments directly into spam zone where I could no longer retrieve them. Now I have to wait for Askimet, the official spam blocker of WordPress, to clear out its queue (awesome Scrabble word!) and see what is what.
