Forever LOST

with 4 comments

I have now watched the LOST series finale twice, and I have to say that, overall, I am satisfied with its ending. But only because I am adding my own ending details to it. Spoilers ahead, but I’m sure you all knew that anyway.

See, I get what they did. They pulled the rug out from under us one last time, showing us an alternate universe for an entire season that was not so much alternate as it was imaginary. They are dead. They all died. It was going to happen anyway, given time and all, and we’re given a glimpse of them all finally coming together, one last hurrah, to move on elsewhere. It’s emotionally satisfying in that love and peace and friendship is what they wanted most, and they found that on the island, together, each in their own way.

My theory is simple. Jacob, as protector of the island, had powers. He gave Richard immortality, he traveled off the island to touch each of his candidates, thus ensuring their safety until Oceanic 815 crashed. Jacob’s mother also had powers. And if Jack had lasted a bit longer, I’m sure he would’ve discovered some too. This brings me to Hurley. He was told to do what he has always done: take care of people. And Hurley is no Jacob, with Ben passing along the idea that maybe there’s a different way to run things. So my idea is this, and this is why I’m okay with everything; Hurley used his powers as the island’s protector to give all his friends this shared sub-conscious world to live in after death before moving on.

Did I want more plot answers than people answers? Sure. What was up with the Dharma Initiative, and why were they so interested in kidnapping children? Why were some people in the church and not others? Penny was there, but she wasn’t an Oceanic crasher. So why wasn’t Miles and Lepidus there, or Faraday and Charlotte? How did Kate’s horse get on the island if the Smoke Monster could only take the form of the locally dead? Were the numbers really cursed or just ironic and things to be caught by hardcore viewers? Was the sickness real or just Smokey infecting people’s minds?

I could go on…

But it’s over. There’s no more chances, no more hints. It is going to be weird tonight to not watch a new episode, to not get a wee bit closer to unraveling one of TV’s greatest mysteries. Sigh.

But thanks for everything, LOST. I’ll see you in another life.

The final season of LOST starts tonight!

with 2 comments

The final season of LOST starts tonight, and let me put the warm swirly-twirlies I’m feeling inside of my body into words you will understand: I AM SO SUPER EXCITED. I can just feel it, y’know, that this season, this final gasp, is not only going to be great, but monumental. Astounding. Mind-blowing. Historical in the shape of things to come. Really, I could just keep using adjectives to describe what it’s going to be, but I’d rather share some fanart with you. Here’s Jack, Kate, and Locke, all done in Supertown style:

Stay tuned for more character art as the season continues. Hurley’s going to fun to draw, that’s for sure. Are you EXCITED about tonight’s premiere? If not, are you dead on the inside? Did a Dharma shark eat your heart?

“More to Love” ruins my night

with 7 comments

025-MoreLove

The only silver lining to this cloud is that it’s the show’s season finale.

Someone please call me a DONKEY or tell me to MOVE YOUR ASS so that I can sleep comforted tonight by the sweet sounds that is Ramsey on a Rampage. Seriously, do this.

I opened my eyes last night and saw you in the low light
Walking down by the bay, on the shore
Staring up at the planes that aren’t there anymore
I was feeling the night grow old and you were looking so cold
Like an introvert, I drew my over shirt

Season Two of True Blood is over, let the bloody tears run free

with one comment

The above is how the scene originally ran in True Blood‘s Season Two finale, but it got edited down due to time restraints. Alas…

Anyways, just finished up watching the latest blood-filled finale and while Season Two was pretty good, it definitely was not as strong as Season One. Many minor characters came forward to get spotlighted, which was nice and welcome, but Bill and Sookie’s relationship turned bland and the Fellowship of the Sun parts were a little predictable.

So, the positive parts:

  • Eggs totally got scrambled
  • “Worship it, bitches!” – Lafayette
  • Jessica and Hoyt story arc, with a surprising twist at its conclusion
  • Eric crying bloody tears
  • Eric flying
  • Eric in general
  • Jason questioning the nature that is Sam Merlotte, and Andy putting up with it
  • Teacup humans

And now the cons:

  • Eggs totally getting scrambled was a cop out
  • Maryanne story arc ran a little too long and the sex-frenzy parties stopped being weird and eventually just became the status-quo for Bon Temps
  • The wholly black eyes were a neat trick at first…at first
  • Sookie should be learning more about herself and her abilities, not doing things and then being all la la la, look at me
  • The Queen didn’t really feel any different than Bill’s maker, whatshername, which is a shame

But I am, however, sad the show is over and must wait until next year for Season Three to begin. This season’s cliffhanger isn’t enough to dry me crazy, thankfully. It’s quite ho-hum actually. Overall I give Season Two of True Blood three vampire cupcakes out of five:

Bonus Comics from August 2008, Part Four

with 6 comments

All righty, here’s the last two bonus MyLifeComics from August 2008 that never made it online until now. Hope all two of you reading this have enjoyed them, and I’m sure I’ll have some new stuff up…eventually.

I absolutely love game shows, but not game shows like this:

If you’re a Home Movies fan (and no, I’m not talking about those mini videos you and your significant other make late at night in your bedroom), I love you and we need to get together for a marathon real soon because the truth of the matter is that McGuirk is our nation’s greatest overachiever and I want to be 94% like him when I hit my mid-forties:

Today’s been a career day
Futures made and fortunes lost
As I’m standing in the lobby
I’m waiting for the elevator to take
Me away

No One Ever Said This Would Be Easy

with 7 comments

2008-12-11

As always, I hold the right to never explain my genius.

Yet I’m thinking the reason I wrote this note down was because, normally, I’d never do anything at all before The Office would come on, less I risk missing some of it or something. But the power that is Tara, the power that is Tara wanting to play Munchkin…it’s too hard to resist. How I’d draw something like that is beyond me. So enjoy the blob monsters.

Question of the day: Did you say this would be easy?

Round each corner there’s a chance

People searching glance to glance

Moving about real fast

Like insects and fish when they’re scared

Laughing Out Loud is Not a Myth

with 6 comments

2008-12-04

I love The Office with an intensity like no other. I do not love George Bush delaying something I love with an intensity like no other so that he can say farewell to a population that (mostly) could care less about where he goes next so long as it is away from the White House.

That said, what TV shows currently or used to make you chuckle out loud? Anyone that says Laguna Beach or Kath & Kim is banned from Earth for an uncountable number of years. You’ve been warned.

I’ve heard about a place
Where they enlarge yer space
Don’t cost ya very much
They seem to know their stuff
They take pity on the small ones
