What’s the Deal with Disappearing DVD Board Games?

with 6 comments

2008-12-18

Allow me to offer a pinch of advice to all my readers (all ten of you, that is): if you’re out holiday shopping and you see something that you are planning to buy, don’t be lazy like me and think, “Oh, I’ll get it on my way out so I don’t have to carry it around while I peruse bookshelves for an hour or so”…because it might just not be there upon your return.

Luckily, the stack of Scene It? Seinfelds had just been moved from the middle section of the Barnes & Noble up to where the registers are. I guess they wanted to shoehorn all the impulse buyers waiting in line. So, in the end, crisis averted.

For those in the know (Tara and fam), no one say anything about us being doppelgängers. That’s certainly a comic to come…

Nice surprise, I haven’t seen you in so long
We laugh and you smile and I stroke your hair
Drive me home in the same old car, the 4th of July
What am I, oh, what am I doing here
Come on in, yeah, stay for a while

Yet Another Adventure in Ordering Hot Drinks By Accident

with 10 comments

2008-11-09

If you are getting a flash of déjà vu, do not fret. It is true. We flubbed up…for a second time. The drink we ordered this time around is known as the Peppermint Mocha Trio (also, spot the grammar error in the drink’s description and you’ll win an invisible prize!), and of the two versions, the cold one takes the race by a landslide. Something about the hot liquid and the crushed bits of peppermint candy really confuses my tongue.

Anyways, one of the interesting things about doing this journal comic thing is learning that life repeats. Whether it is on the grand scale or the minute one, it happens. You see the same people every day, you do the same things, you eat the same food, you try to mix it up when you can, but for the most part it is all pretty much parallel. Some might not see it, but I do. I find this sort of redundancy funny, amusing even, but I’m not looking forward to having my drink ordered messed up for a third time.

Looking At and Looking Out for Each Other

I’m not quite in the right place to explain this one, but ask me again in a few years. In the meantime, feel free to guess the plot above. You’ll get bonus points if you fit in the words umbrage and pigsney. Get to it!

Stand there like parked cars if you want to
We can’t force you to enjoy this music
Take it or leave it, we’ll carry on regardless
If you don’t like it, you don’t have to use it

A Trip to the Montclair Book Center

It’s kind of my home-away-from-home.

I’m currently in a really grouchy mood. Why? Well, I finally got around to setting up the free printer/copier/scanner that came with Macaroni and dang-it-all, the thing is actually worse than my scanner from 1995. No joke. It won’t let me scan like I’d like to, and I’ve been playing with it for…hmm, three hours. Wow. What a good amount of time wasted. I had to actually re-draw the left side of this comic and 08/16/08’s comic because the new scanner likes to crop and cut and be annoying. What’s the purpose of that? There is no purpose. Just more work and stress for me. I’m sure I just need more practice with it to figure it out, but I’m already grouchy.

And I’m out of ice cream.

Slime and snails

Meh. It’s true.

So, I’m contemplating taking a big step with MyLifeComics and uh, gee, turning this into a real website. I don’t know yet. The Comicpress theme via WordPress really looks yummy, and I think it’d be a whole lot easier to navigate through than simply clicking “older posts” all the time (not that any of y’all do that cause you read this shiz daily and all, but you get what I mean). Plus, I could totally get all customizable with this thing. I mean, I really like WordPress and the function it offers, and I came here cause it was free and I didn’t know how long this daily journal comic strip would last, but now I see that I’d like to keep on doing it so maybe I should…you know…upgrade.

Anyways, here’s my favorite song/video lately from Sigur Ros:

Weekend plans? Well, Momma Dukes and Dadster are visiting me this evening for food and fun. Other than that, nothing solid is in place. I’d like to finish up a short story that I’ve been toying with for the past two weeks because its March 31st deadline is quickly approaching. Ack. That’s okay, I guess. Some days I feel like I work better under pressure. Doo doo doo do do do dah. Doo doo doo do do do dah. Under pressure!

So, what are y’all up to?

#188 – The Sighting

Apologies for the vagueness of today’s strip, but names need not be named to get the run of it. Have you ever said goodbye to someone and completely expected to never see them ever again? And then, after what seemed like rather trivial decisions and random occurrences, you spot them? Well, yeah. So that happened. And it sucked. But I guess that’s what makes life so funny, so sardonic. It makes me wonder if these sorts of suckerpunches happen for a reason, and if so–why? This isn’t the first time such blatant mockery has occurred (hello bio class, circa 05!) and it certainly won’t be the last time so…eh, enough philosophical waxing for today.

The weekend is here and that’s good. Sleep, watching more episodes of Heroes in anticipation of the new season starting, working on the novel…those be my plans, gaming notwithstanding. And y’all? Bitsy, are you gearing up to come home to stinky, smelly New Jersey soon? Also, hurry up and play a move in Scrabulous. Patrick and I are waiting…
