#326 – Elevator VS. Stairs

with 6 comments

This is a decision I have to make two times a day, five days a week…and boy is it a doozy. Yesterday, I went with the elevator and ended up getting stuck in the middle of two people having a deeply heated conversation about that viral video sweeping the web lately. You know, the one where the teenagers kidnap that girl and beat on her a lot. Well, I guess I’m not enough to stop their chit-chatting as they happily spoke through me. Ugh.

The stairs in my work building are quite narrow, which means if someone is running down behind you there are only two options: 1) make love to the wall so they can pass or 2) try and speed things up yourself, which can be dangerous and exhausting all at once. So, erm, yeah. These are the sorts of dilemmas that plague my daily existence. I know, you’re astounded.

Site-wise, I’ve added a section to the MyLifeComics sidebar for most recent comments. If any are interested, they can sign up with WordPress to upload their own avatar or can grab one free over at gravatar.com. Maybe I might even draw a few this weekend that people can use…

Speaking of the weekend, what is everybody up to? Tonight is a new episode of Battlestar Galactica. Really, that’s all that matters to me. Eh, just kidding. I’d love to finish up some freelance work I have laying around the place. And then sleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep…

  1. How many floors are in your building and What’s the big rush? Do these speed freaks at least slow down when approaching slower traffic and say “excuse me?” If not, they should.

I signed up for WordPress so I could upload my avatar but someone is already using my name! I couldn’t even shorten it to Trin. So, I went with Treenieweenie: a loving endearment bestowed upon me by my prepubescent nephew.

  2. Stairs are overrated. I stick to elevators & stand really close to the door, whether I get on first or not, that way you don’t have to look at anyone.

  3. Hey Biff – when i go hiking i am also pretty turtle-ish, maybe even snaily. (ha, none of those are words!) when people rush up behind me or my friends, we usually call “Chaser” and move out of the way FAST, even if that means hugging up against a cholla cactus!
I’m going to try for Bitsy in wordpress.

  4. Treenie: Lurve the new name! But your dog pic disappeared! I just saw it a minute ago! I’m on the 13th floor of my building (dun dun duuuuuun).

Cass: I like to stair at my feet in elevators and pretend my shoelaces are poisonous snakes. I have them attack anyone I consider to be an idiot.

Bitsy: Chaser! I like that. Will think it every time now when someone comes barreling down behind me. How are your flowers doing? I’ve been sabatoging my neighbors’ flowerbeds like mad.

  5. Well, you are wearing green, just like a turtle.

[sigh] Guess I’ll have to (yet again) reconsider a WordPress and LJ account. [Damn people, why can’t you all use Blogger]

  6. TK: Well, I think that’s what Gravatar can help with. You don’t have to sign up for a bazillion different sites. Just that one, and it allows you to use avatar pics on a myriad of blogs. At least, that’s what I think it means. Haven’t tried…

    Bitsy: Like the avatar pic!
