#266 – Arizona Vacation, Part One

with 12 comments

I decided to color the comics for my latest vacation to Arizona a bit differently. Heck, you might not even notice it. Or you may. Either way, hush…I’m just experimenting.

Oh, and happy Monday! I know you’re all beaming with excitement, right? Right?

  1. Ugh! Unfortunately, I know all about doing the OJ in an airport to make a connecting flight. I was winded but okay, but my poor mom! I then we still missed the flight. Fortunately, they immediately booked us on the next one and we only had to wait about an hour. Just enough time to catch our breaths and get a drink, really. Airports suck.

Here’s those Loggerhead pics-not sure how to post them but here goes:

  3. Ah, I think I fixed it. I had to make them links though. But neat! That thing is crazy beautiful Are those sharks in the background on the second pic?

  4. Thanks. No, those aren’t sharks in that second pic, they’re just some big fish. Bar Jacks, I think. And in the upper right corner are the arms of another diver as he/she is going up the anchor line.

Here’s a picture of a shark taken during that same dive with a bunch of bait-type fish:

  5. The change in color is nice. Not as vivid, but has a nice, light, newspaper kind of feel to it. My weekend went from “working weekend” to “Wii-kend.”

And my favorite, but downright nerveracking, terminal dash was in O’Hare. I literally got off one plan, walked two terminals to the McDonald’s, got my food, walked around the corner to the next concourse, walked two terminals to my plane, got on, they closed the doors behind me and we were taxi-ing before I could sit down and open my bag of food.

I was SOO lucky the next flight was literally around the corner. Any further and I would have been hungry or late.

And yes, editing in here would be nice.

  6. 2:30 am? At that point you’re better off just not going to sleep.

  7. TK: I didn’t have a total Wii-kend, but I got to play Wii Bowling. Dang it is fun stuff! I want one now.

Kelly: I tried reaaaaaaaaaally hard to stay up. But with all the presents and eating and family fun I just had to shut my eyes.

  8. Love the change in colors as I’ve always loathed digital coloring for the most part. Keep up the evolution!

  9. How could I have forgotten to check your site today?!?! I should be shot! But Paul – wasn’t all that misery worth it? Just imagine my own torment today trying to walk with gigantic blisters on my feet!

And PS – I like the look just fine!

  10. tgjason: Thanks! I think the lighter colors really make a difference. Less worry on coloring minute details and more just about getting the feel of the comic.

Bitsy: I felt something was off when I didn’t get your comment in the morning. Ew, big blisters! You should give ’em a nice soak in your…pool.

  11. Looks like a good start to a vacation (the more that goes wrong in the beginning the better the holiday is)
