#250 – Quietly Jealous

with 7 comments

Are you quietly jealous of something? Don’t say cloud drawers. Be original!

My goal for the weekend is to finish all my Christmas shopping, wrap the blasted bounders, and then celebrate with a tribal belly dance. Er, okay…not true. But maybe I’ll take a nap! What are y’all going to be up to?

  1. Cloud drawers-that’s funny! Makes me think of fluffy, white underwear.

I’d like to finish up my Christmas shopping this weekend, too. Most of the stuff I ordered online has arrived, but I haven’t wrapped any of it yet. I really don’t like the wrapping part. I’m a terrible wrapper (as well as a terrible rapper.)

  2. i think i’m openly jealous of too many things to have any time to be quietly jealous of anything…but it’s a good concept.

openly jealous of: people free of credit card debt; people who have careers in the field they love instead of jobs in fields the have learned to like and tolerate; people who get published in The New Yorker; people with nice book deals; people who can watercolor and/or oil paint like rockstars; people who can draw male anatomy well…and perspective…and people who can ink like badasses…okay this could go on for days….

  3. Trina – you can’t be worse at wrapping (or rapping!) than Paul!!!
I’m jealous of lots of things, too. Maybe we can compare lists. BTW – is it better to be bitter or jealous?
This weekend it is supposed to rain again. I am watching Frosty and Frosty Returns while I begin the frenzy that is last minute knitting! I am working Brandy’s bow stand at a craft fair for a measly $30 (but anything helps!). I am hiking on Sunday.
And, as an ode to you and Mere – I am doing some pre-cleaning. And Biff, your mattress has arrived.

  4. Like 1979 said, I’m openly jealous of many things, just not the same things as her.

Quietly jealous? I’d have to say anyone that is above average. I’ve always seen myself as average and can’t seem to break that mold. But when people draw readers, viewers, fans, etc. I wish I could be like them. Instead I’m the reader, viewer, and fan.

Weekend plans include a trip on the Santa Train tomorrow and the Steeler/Patriots game on Sunday (assuming we get it). And, if I’m really lucky, my wife will clean up her junk. And if I’m really, really, really lucky, she’ll quit PMSing.

  5. Trina: What I call wrapping, others would call “putting gifts in cheesy bag.” You should finish wrapping (not rapping) this weekend, cause then you would be done, done, done!

Kelly: Ah, the New Yorker. If I wrote anything not science fiction or fantasy, I’d get drunk and mail it to them.

Bitsy: Color comics are back for the time being! Huzzah! Have fun at the craft fair. I’m thinking sunny, warm thoughts all this weekend.

TK: I’ll get you a fan for the holidays. Oh, wait…you were talking about something else. Have fun riding the Santa Train, you big kiddo! 😛

  6. As a longtime fan of all things in artistic literature(aka comics/manga) I’m quietly jealous of anyone who can successfully draw on a regular basis or make a living doing so.
