#237 – Crappy Wine

with 9 comments

Don’t worry, I learned my lesson. From now on I’ll only purchase wine that is $3.00 and up. It totally tasted like feet.

This weekend I’m visiting the fam and attending PhilCon 2007. I’m going to assume that there will be drinking happening on both fronts. What are y’all up to? Preparing for Thanksgiving? Watching football? Raking leaves? Buying me presents?

  1. UFC on Saturday!!! Heading down to San Diego(a friend lives nears SDSU) for it.

That and studying for two midterms are what I have planned. At least I know it’ll be easy since I just got my 20 minute presentation on tuberculosis over with and out of the way, so it’s all downhill from here!

  2. Do you know your friends…do you think we’re a football crowd? Saturday is the beer tasting in PA. WhooHoo. A school bus full of drunks. They’re making us “special” shirts with numbers on the back so we don’t get lost and miss the bus to come home. I have to make sure I get my permission slip signed! Sunday is the pre-Thanksgiving Turkey Tryouts. PhilCon sounds fun…sigh.

  5. Human feet, Elvish feet, or Hobbit feet?

Weekend plans include assisting the wife in grocery shopping for Thanksgiving. Which means I get to look mean to keep the crazies away. And tonight I get to play babysitter while my wife goes out for dinner with her teacher friends. And while the burn ban has been lifted, I just don’t feel like freezing my you-know-whatses off working outside. So I’ll likely sit around, work on school work and try to finish Innocent Mage. Another “exciting” weekend.

  6. We’re going scuba diving!

Yes, beware of cheap wine. I bought a $3.00 bottle of red once. Never again. Ten bucks should get you a very decent bottle of wine, red or white, whatever region. I don’t spend more than $15 unless I’ve sampled it first.

  8. Most people start off with the really sweet stuff like white zif, work themselves up through the whites from riesling to chardonnay, then graduate to the big, bold reds.

But, hey, if you don’t like it, you don’t like it.

How about a frosty mug of beer?

  9. Thanks all for the replies! Sowwy I didn’t get back to y’all, but I had a busy weekend. Hope yours were nice as well, and TK, it tasted like hobbit feet, of course. 😛
