#88 – Mr. Shiraz

leave a comment »

You all can just call me Mr. Shiraz from now on. But, yeah, I got lucky. No one else at my table guessed any right (not even my mother, who had a glass of wine beforehand too that turned out to be one of the mystery bottles), which makes me feel all smartsy. Truthfully, I couldn’t tell you if some wine came from a $600 bottle or an $8 box. But wine tasting is a fun time, and I definitely recommend it.

#87 – Light Hiking

leave a comment »

Now, being an Easterner, light hiking in my mind consists of a walk around my apartment complex. Out in Arizona, hiking is very serious business. They have many different levels: light, not so light, heavy, you will die doing this, and extreme. The scenery is beautiful, but I spent most of my time reassuring my heart that it was going to be okay, that we were going to make goshdarnit, and that above everything else that I wasn’t going to throw up. But here’s some advice for you world travelers…after sitting on a plane for five hours or so, do not immediately eat lunch and then decide to go hiking. Pooped, indeed.

#86 – Meteors

leave a comment »

That’s right folks. Hate to break it to you, but unfortunately, we’re all going to die one day from a shower of meteors. Like the movie said, it’s not a matter of if it’ll happen but when…dum dum dummmmm. I found the whole thing bizarre. Why can’t they just show reruns of Seinfeld or an extended version of Lord of the Rings? Hmm? Seriously, let’s make this change happen.

#85 – Wrong Seat

leave a comment »

True fact: old people are blind. Well, a good two-thirds of them at least. Anyways, technically the lady was in my seat but I allowed my mother to handle the situation. Much less hassle on my part. If I can get through my day without saying a single word to anyone over 75 then it has been a good day.

Lots more comics coming up from my vacation in Arizona. Stay tuned…

#84 – Gasman

leave a comment »

There’s an upside and a downside to living in New Jersey. Upper: other fools pump your gas for you. Downer: Sometimes–well, most of the time–they are fools. Anyways, it was a nice gesture. I wonder if they devote any sort of training that helps these gasmen (yes, that’s what I’m calling them) pump it up to a solid dollar amount. Sigh. Why do I wonder about such things?

Well, I’m going on vacation for a bit. Sadly, comics are on pause until I return. And you’ll know I’ve returned when you start seeing comics again. How’s that?

#83 – Children of Men

with one comment

I really liked the film. Despite the science fiction aspect being a bit iffy and actually underdeveloped, I can appreciate the look and mood of the film. Definitely one worth checking out. And no, not just because I love Michael Caine (who will forever be Alfred to me). It’s got explosions, explosions, and explosions! Need I say more?
